Normally the red carpet ‘who are you wearing?’ questions elicit answers such as Dolce and Gabbana or Dior. Not now, as Radio 1 DJ Scott Mills breaks with tradition to wear a tux from Yorkshire company Johnny Tuxedo www.johnnytuxedo.co.uk

With its trademark Union Flag lining and costing just £225, the Britannia from Johnny Tuxedo is the ultimate dinner suit for every budget.

Made from 100 per cent wool and boasting a Union Jack lining, each Britannia tuxedo is individually numbered with an embroidered signature underneath the collar.

“We are delighted that Scott Mills has chosen to wear Johnny Tuxedo for the Brits and Eurovision!” said founder Austen Pickles.

“It’s great exposure for the brand and opens up to a whole new audience.”

And with midnight blue the colour to be seen in for a host of A-list celebrities in the last 12 months, sales have gone through the roof.

Johnny Tuxedo was officially unveiled in 2012 and immediately appealed to style-starved men desperate for some cutting-edge tailoring.

Orders flooded in from across the globe with demand expected to soar even higher for the Britannia, with only 350 being made.

But while a tux is now a red carpet essential, the look doesn’t need an A-list budget to go top of the class. The Classic Johnny Tuxedo suit, shirt and bow tie retails for just £125 all in with the Britannia at £225.

The brand was launched by Austen Pickles, who runs tailoring company Buxton Pickles, to meet demand for the best of British tailoring updated with a sharp, modern fit available at an affordable price.

He said Johnny Tuxedo was born thanks to the soaring demand from teenagers and young men to make an impression with a sharp and savvy approach.

“Cool young men need dinner suits or tuxedos for their university ball, school prom, graduation dinner, Christmas party or wedding reception, yet the suit market is full of ill-fitting cheap suits that will wear out, or well-known brands which don’t make small sizes, or whose styles are too boring or expensive,” he said.

“Johnny Tuxedo has been designed to tear up the rule book. Not only can you have a suit that looks great and gives you countless ways to create your own style but the price is great too.”
