Dr Feelgood’s Wilko Johnson, founding member of the Punk movement, is a former student, members of Mercury Prize-nominated Maximo Park met there and Roxy Music’s Bryan Ferry launched his singing career there. No wonder I’m off to Newcastle University. The alumni reads like a who-who’s of the uber-cool.
